2019 “A Tale of Two Dudes”
96 points
All Grenache, the translucent ruby 2019 A Tale Of Two Dudes boasts a rocking nose of kirsch, herbes de Provence, ground pepper, and candied violet and orange peel-like nuances. Ripe, sexy, medium to full-bodied, and just a gorgeous Grenache, it ranks with the crème de la creme of the vintage.

2019 “G2 Vineyard”
93 Points
A blend of 62% Syrah and 38% Graciano that's all from the great G2 Vineyard in the Willow Creek District, the 2019 G2 Vineyard sports a dense purple hue to go with uber-ripe red and blue fruits, new leather, cracked peppercorns, and candied orange peel. This ripe, full-bodied effort brings full-bodied richness and loads of opulence yet still stays light on its feet and balanced, with silky tannins and good freshness.

2019 “James Berry Vineyard”
2019 “Proprietary Red”

The 2019 James Berry Vineyard is another tour de force from this estate. A blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Roussanne from the James Berry Vineyard, it was all destemmed and brought up in French oak. Deep red and blackberry fruits, ground pepper, violets, earth, and gamey nuances all soar from the glass, and this puppy is full-bodied, with a ripe, decadent texture, rounded, velvety tannins, and a great finish. It's already drinking brilliantly yet should cruise for 7-8 years from cold cellars, and I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see it drinking nicely beyond a decade.

Lastly, the 2019 Proprietary Red checks in as blend of 50% Syrah and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon that was all destemmed and will spend 20 months in new French oak barrels. Uber-ripe notes of blackcurrants, graphite, lavender, and peppery herbs all emerge on the nose, and it's a big, rich, opulent barrel sample with notable mountain tannins and outstanding length. A slightly tired barrel sample, it nevertheless has good purity, depth, and richness and is a promising 2019.
